A B O U T
The idea was to make the first Russian web-site about kerosene lamps.

In fact it is not a commercial project. I only collect the kerosene lamps but do not make a business with. Everyone has his routine job to do but I think we should not forget that we are people with our own interests and hobbies. Working is only the one of our inclinations but we have the others as well, f.e. kerosene lamps, hunting, bonsai.

I am always asked: - Why are you collecting just kerosene lamps?

I can't reply absolutely. I simply like them. I like watching them, switching on and the smell of kerosene. Is it romantic or simply something strange (I think it does not matter)?

I am used to buy them in all the countries, which I happen to visit and bring them home to Russia. When I started to collect I had bought at a run but nowadays I consider myself to be more intelligible.

First of all I am interested in its original technical construction and only then its art and antique value. When buying I pay attention to uniqueness of the construction, its real state (sometimes, I refuse to make a purchase because of its poor state or the fashion to be irretrievably lost). However, if I like a lamp, it means that its construction is delicately performed.

At first, I'd like to share my hobby and to show my lamps since many people even don't know about existence these types of lamps. My wish is to pay people's attention to the subjects not to be taught at the physics and history lessons at school.

If one be asked about the lighting history in Russia before appearing of electricity, I am sure the answer will be a candle or a spill. It is a paradox, but I do not remember us to be said something about kerosene lamps besides the fact that electricity made a progress comparing with them.

It is happened that it is not enough just to show my lamps, moreover I do sometimes not know the way they function. I think that I am not yet the greatest specialist in lamps. When I joined the net I found out many amateurs and some of them were so qualified to know more about lamps than me. They have their web-sites, but unfortunately not in Russian.

Getting kind permission from site-owners I publish my translations of the web-pages which I find interesting and reasonable.
