    Really I never had problems with bring items out of the foreign country to Russia. I've head that there are strict laws on export of historical art values from Sweden, but one of the lamps was brought there by chance and exported without any problems. I'd like to note that the customs authorities of the USA and Europe behave indifferently to lamps export.

    In accordance with the Law of Russian Federation Ministry of Culture from 01.06.2001, confirming the List of cultural values to come within the Russian Federation law " Export and import of cultural values", kerosene oil lamp being a domestic article may be free exported from the territory of RF without special permission.

    This law came into force on 01.06.2001 and was brought to the customs authorities' notice by the letter of Ministry of Culture of RF. (The Law of Ministry of Culture from 01.06.2001, N 576).

    A lawyer's commentary:

    The permission for export of cultural values from the territory of Russian Federation is not required, as follows: domestic articles (tableware, carpets and carpet items and etc.), suit's articles and its complementary items (personal decorations, ornaments, watches, face powder boxes and etc.) as well as the souvenirs (trays, toys and etc).

    In case if you would like to indemnify yourself of any surprise to occur at the customs, you may be provided with a special permission to be given by the Bureau of expertise and control of the Department on preservation of cultural values of the Ministry of Culture of RF.
